Oung Jmel (arabic: Neck of the camel) is a rock near the salt lake Chot el Gharsa in Tunisia and has been famous among locals for its camel-like shape and recently has become a tourist attraction following a number of films, including The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, being filmed there.

Mount Etna, located in southern Italy, is the largest active volcano in Europe. Although no scenes were filmed there, it was digitaly scouted to capture plate photography for backdrops in the Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Anakin Skywalker fight on planet Mustafar. Conveniently, Etna erupted while the film was being filmed, so Lucas sent a team to film lava flows to be used as moving backgrounds.

Grindelwald is a municipality in the district of Interlaken in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. Although no actual filming took place in Grindelwald, its mountains were scouted to capture plate photography for backdrops on the planet Alderaan.

Krabi Province is a popular beach destination at the Andaman Sea in Southern Thailand. The most distinguishing feature of Krabi is the massive karst formations, rising vertiginously as islands from the sea.
Of the 154 islands in the province, Ko Phi Phi Leh is the most famous, since it was used in the movie The Beach.
