Turkey has the Bond's third visit after From Russia with Love, The World is Not Enough. The begining chasing scene started at the crowded Eminonu Square, the main tourist destination in Istanbul, with the Yeni Mosque as the backdrop.
The heart-pumping motorbike pursuit continued across the rooftops of Istanbul's Grand Bazaar and on the top of a speeding train to the Varda Viaduct, near Adana in southern Turkey. Adana is in fact a 90-minute flight from Istanbul, but for the purposes of the film it was ‘placed’ just around the corner as Bond’s opening chase landed him on a Turkish railway.
Varda Viaduct was designed and built by Imperial German engineers as part of the Baghdad Railway more than a century ago. Its length is 564 feet and heights is 322 feet.
Bond took a short time off at Koca Calis Beach, at Fethiye, a coastal town in the southwest of Turkey. The town serves as an excellent base for touring the inland country-side. The pre-Roman Lycian relics are especially spectacular.

There are striking aerial shots of Shanghai skyscrapers at LuJiaZui financial disctrict, Yan'an Elevated Road, Shanghai World Financial Center (the third- tallest in the world), and Jin Mao Tower... Shanghai has more skyscrapers than any other city in the world now.
The scene where Bond swam in a Shanghai rooftop pool was actually shot at the Four Seasons Canary Wharf at London, whose infinity pool looks out over the Thames. The Shanghai office building Bond went after Silva’s henchman was shot at Broadgate Tower in London. The 33 story building was constructed from 2005 to 2009 and is currently the fourth tallest building in the City of London.

Bond met with the new Q at National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, London.
The island whose inhabitants were scared away with another Silva's cyber threats is Hashima Island, Japan. The island is located about 20 kilometers from Nagasaki Port. It is also known as Gunkanjima - Battleship island because its shape surrounded by a sea wall and its multi-storey concrete blocks of flats makes it look like a battleship. A complete society was built up around undersea coal mining.
Mitsubishi Motors operated it from 1887 until 1974, after which the coal industry fell into decline and the mines were abandoned. Almost overnight the entire population fled back to the mainland, leaving most of their stuff behind to rot. A small portion of the island was re-opened for tourism on April,2009.
Silva has hacked into M’s computer and blown up MI6 headquarters, also known as Vauxhall Cross, the name of the junction upon which it stands. The ziggurat building, its shape influenced by Babylonian and Mayan architecture, was designed by architect Terry Farrell and completed in 1994.

Skyfall is Scotland’s fourth appearance in the James Bond movie series with previous scenes shot at Loch Craignish, near Crinan, Argyll in 'From Russia with Love', Faslane Naval Base in ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’, while Eilan Donan Castle was a secret MI6 base in ‘The World is Not Enough’.

The Skyfall mansion that has been set ablaze is Bond’s ancestral home. It was totally constructed out of plywood and plaster in a park in Surrey, Scotland.
